After 86 years of running,
the 2006 Sunbury Show was a huge success! With pleasant weather, more
than 10,000 people enjoyed the fun of the show, the crowds equalling the
best ever. In fact, the Show was such a success that the Agricultural
Society was awarded the Community Event of the Year by Hume Council.
We thought you would like to see some of the snapshots
that were taken throughout this great day (right).
The Show featured everything! There was
agriculture, wine-tasting, produce, livestock, displays, stalls, all sorts
of different amusements and carnival rides and a ute and truck muster.
The kids loved the animal farm, pets parade, face painting and the roaming
Alice in Wonderland characters.
A very popular attraction was Ray Hoser from Snake
Busters with some of the world's deadliest snakes. On hand were
taipans, harmless pythons, lizards and crocodiles.
For the very first time, Sunbury Show hosted the first
heat of the Australian Novelty Racing Associations Horse of the Year
series. This event proved very popular, with crowds watching the
exciting events such as barrel races and flag races.
Sunbury Show is well known for its quality horse events
and this year was no exception with close to 800 entries. For the
second successive year, Gordon Nash won the Terry O'Brien and Paddy Leyden
Memorial Trophy for the best stock horse.
Beaut utes and trucks adorned the grounds in the
afternoon. A large number of competitors joined the Show to enter a
number of different categories with great prizes. There certainly were
some beautifully restored and cared for vehicles on display........
congratulations to all who participated.
Congratulations also to the Sunbury Agricultural Society
on another wonderful day!
